Swifties are celebrating over Travis Kelce's latest statement about Taylor Swift.
On October 6, the 34-year-old football player said he is “even more on top of the world” than after winning the Super Bowl back in February. When asked about his current state of mind during a press conference, Kelce replied, “I'm rolling, man. We won three in a row, trying to get to four in a row. As all the attention comes, it feels like, you know, I was on top of the world after the Super Bowl and right now I’m even more on top of the world.”
The next reporter asked about Swift directly, particularly regarding how Kelce is dealing with his new level of fame since the pop star attended two of his recent football games. “We’re learning with the paparazzi just taking photos from all over the place, but at the same time, it comes with it,” he replied. “You’ve got a lot of people that care about Taylor, and for good reason. You just have to keep living and learning and enjoying the moments. At the end of the day, I have always been good at compartmentalizing and being able to stay focused in this building. I will just keep rolling with that.”
This according to insiders, and also anyone with eyes.
Of course, Swifties were thrilled to hear Travis Kelce continue to praise the pop star, but they were particularly giddy over his unbothered response to the paparazzi. Many fans on Twitter and TikTok resurfaced a clip from Swift's Disney+ special, Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions, in which she broke down the lyrics of “Peace.”
“If you’re going to be in my life, I feel like there’s a certain amount that comes with it that I can’t stop from happening,” she told collaborator Aaron Dessner. “I can’t stop from you getting a call in the morning saying the tabloids are writing this today. I can’t help it if there’s a guy with a long-lens camera two miles away with a telescope lens taking pictures of you. I can’t stop those things from happening.”
One Taylor Swift fan account shared both Swift and Kelce's words on TikTok with the caption “The way he just understands her.” Another fan received more than 7,000 likes for their comment, “Now HE brings her peace with answers like this.”
Swift also spoke with Paul McCartney about her attempts to carve out a “human life within a public life” while in a relationship with “someone who has a very grounded, normal way of living.” During their Rolling Stone conversation in 2020, she said, “That’s what that song ‘Peace’ is talking about. Like, would it be enough if I could never fully achieve the normalcy that we both crave?”
Taylor Swift was in a six-year relationship with actor Joe Alwyn before their split was reported in April 2023. At the time a source told People that Alwyn “struggled with Taylor's level of fame and the attention from the public.” Now fans are hoping that won't be an issue with Travis Kelce.
