Megan Fox may have taken a step back from the spotlight—and most notably Instagram—in light of the rumors that she and Machine Gun Kelly broke up, but that hasn’t stopped her from actively being a beauty icon.

The actor debuted a chic shade of copper red hair at the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscar Party; the color was created by Meche Salon stylist Jacob Schwartz using Redken Color Gels Oils. “For Megan’s color, we looked through different variations of red. Her eyes are so blue so I knew adding more copper would be the move,” he said. “I wanted her change to be a full-on moment, but also wanted to approach it with a natural touch so I kept it a deeper copper tone.”

Now, Fox literally looks like IRL Jessica Rabbit, though a different (yet equally iconic) animated classic was the actual inspiration behind Fox’s Vanity Fair look.

“My inspo was The Little Mermaid,” said celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos, who styled her freshly dyed hair. “Megan revealed new hair tonight, which is coppery red and a shorter length. She’s wearing a beautiful black gown so we wanted the hair to look very effortless and modern.”

In the past year Fox has gone from her natural shade of brunette to platinum blonde to bright pink—bringing back the millennial side part while she was it at it. Fox’s last hair change, pre-Oscars, was a cozy blonde long bob and bangs, which she showed off via Instagram Stories in January.

If you’re feeling inspired, here’s how to recreate Fox’s red-hot blowout. “I started by using Unite’s Elevate Mousse in towel-dried hair in order to give some body and lift the roots of the hair, then blow dried the hair in small sections using a round brush, using some Texturiza Spray to maintain the volume and fullness,” Giannetos said. “To finish, I sprayed with my favorite GO365 Hairspray so the hair can last all night.”

As for the actual party? Fox stunned, obviously, and appeared to attend the party solo (as in, sans MGK). Fox did, however, pose alongside Billie Eilish for photos. Talk about an iconic duo!

Prior to Hollywood’s biggest night, the last we heard from Megan Fox was when she addressed the cheating rumors surrounding her relationship with Machine Gun Kelly back in February. In a since-deleted Notes-app Instagram post, the 36-year-old actor wrote, “There has been no third party interference in this relationship of any kind. That includes, but is not limited to…actual humans, DMs, AI bots or succubus demons.” While Fox still doesn’t follow Machine Gun Kelly, she doesn’t follow anyone else either.

Fox’s cryptic post came after numerous reports about her alleged breakup with MGK, which included claims that she removed her engagement ring, and even possibly ended the relationship after discovering evidence of infidelity on MGK’s phone. A source told Page Six at the time that Machine Gun Kelly “really wants to make up,” and that Fox was weighing her options. “Megan is seeing where they stand,” the insider allegedly said. “She wants to see what they can salvage.”
