Train Derailment Greenville Ohio

A train carrying ethanol from a nearby ethanol plant derailed shortly before noon Tuesday causing 3 tanker cars to jump the track and roll to their sides. The train returning from Anderson Ethanol Plant of Greenville, Ohio experienced trouble in the area of State Routes 49 and 571 resulting in the incident. Crews from Greenville City Fire Department responded along with Greenville Township Emergency Services, Greenville Police and Darke County Sheriff’s Office. Three fully loaded tanker cars of ethanol as well as dry cargo cars jumped the track within feet of nearby gas station. According to the Greenville City Fire Department No injuries have been reported at this time and leaks have been detected. The area will remain closed to traffic until further notice. Crews from the rail company are expected to be on scene first thing in the morning to begin working on the cleanup and recovery process. This is an ongoing scene.
