Giant Flood In Indonesia.

Medan City Floods Gradually Recede * Medan. North sumatera - The floods that had submerged Medan City, North Sumatra Province, at several points of up to five meters on Thursday (3/12), gradually receded. The water level was observed between 30 and 60 cm today, Saturday (5/12). Data from the Operations Control Center As of December 5, 2020, the flood resulted in 5 deaths, 2 missing and 4,249 families or 12,783 people affected. The local Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) together with a joint team evacuated 181 people, including 67 children and 26 elderly people. One of the causes of flooding is due to high intensity rain, causing the Deli River, Babura River and Denai River to overflow. The four sub-districts affected by the flood were Medan Johor District, Medan Maimun District, Medan Sunggal District and Medan Tuntung District. The Fast Response Team (TRC) of the Medan City Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that six people were missing and thousands of houses were submerged. Medan City BPBD will immediately carry out disaster emergency handling in the field, such as evacuation of affected residents, rapid assessments and coordination with related agencies. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) informed of the early weather forecast for 4 to 6 December 2020. Today (5/12) and Sunday (6/12), North Sumatra is one of the areas with the potential for heavy rain which can be accompanied by lightning or thunder and strong winds. The public is advised to always be aware of the potential hazards of hydrometeorological disasters such as floods, flash floods, landslides and strong wind. (Footage by StringersHub via Getty Images)
