Major Crash in East El Paso, TX

A major accident involving two El Paso, TX sheriffs' vehicles, a tractor trailer and an I-10 construction vehicle and crew shut down I-10 east. The accident was reported at 5 a.m., at the Lomaland Drive exit. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office reports that crews were picking up traffic control barrels when a tractor-trailer ignored construction signs and crashed into two sheriff’s vehicles with their emergency lights on. Two crew workers and two deputies were taken to local hospitals. The tractor trailer first crashed in to the Sheriff SUV vehicle, causing minor damage, then it then violently crashed and dragged a second Sheriff sedan vehicle for about 50 yards, before the tractor trailer came to a complete stop, almost 1000 yards from the initial crash.
