Leader of the UK House of Commons, Jacob Rees-Mogg lounged with closed eyes on the parliamentary benches as MPs passionately debated the Brexit strategies devised by Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his adviser Dominic Cummings.

Green party MP Caroline Lucas said Mr Rees-Mogg “with his body language throughout this evening has been so contemptuous of this house and the people”, as other MPs called for him to “Sit up man”. Labour MP Anna Turley described Mr Rees-Mogg’s position as “the physical embodiment of arrogance, entitlement, disrespect and contempt for our parliament”.

The government went on to be heavily defeated twice and sack 21 rebel Conservative MPs including two former chancellors, reducing its majority of one to minus 43.
