Carlos Monarrez is a sports columnist for the Detroit Free Press, where he has covered every pro and college team since 2000. Carlos and fellow Free Press columnist Shawn Windsor host the weekly podcast "Free Press Sports with Carlos and Shawn." He was a National Sports Media Association Michigan Sportswriter of the Year finalist in 2023. He's an avid golfer and has covered the sport extensively, including Ryder Cups in the United States and Europe as well as numerous majors.
