E. Barton Seekins

E. Barton Seekins of Portsmouth died peacefully at Webster at Rye on July 2, 2024.

He was born in Portsmouth on December 20,1933, a son of the late H. Earl and Ruth (Barton) Seekins.

Bart graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1951 and from the Wentworth Institute in Boston, MA in 1954. He served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War.

He retired from the Naval Sea Systems Command Detachment (SUBMEPP) after 37 years of service. Bart had served as an Incorporator at the Piscataqua Savings Bank. He was a member of the Island Club of New Castle, NH.

He is predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Bobby Jean Seekins and his son, Barton C. Seekins. He is survived by his daughter Pamela S. Clairmont and her husband Thomas Clairmont of Portsmouth; son Bret C. Seekins and his wife Susan of Cape Elizabeth, Me; four grandchildren Caitlin Farmer (James) of Stratham, Paige Charette (Jason) of West Newbury, MA, Calvin Seekins of Westbrook, ME and Rachel Seekins (fiancé Bryant) of Vernon, CT. He was affectionally known as “Bicky” by his grandchildren and also by his four great grandchildren: Gemma and Joshua Charette and Addison and Julian Farmer.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Beacon Hospice - Amedisys company or Meals on Wheels in Portsmouth. Services will be private.
