Tarkov is getting another patch.
Battlestate Games has announced that a new Escape From Tarkov patch will arrive tomorrow, July 10, and it is expected to fix some of the PvE issues seen recently.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the Escape From Tarkov development team confirmed that a new patch will arrive at 8:00 am BST/3:00 am EDT tomorrow, July 10. The patch will be update 0.14.9.6 and while it is installed, the servers will be offline and you will be unable to play Tarkov. The installation is expected to last around five hours, but could be extended further if there are issues.
There is no official word on what the patch will include, however at the same time the announcement was made, Battlestate Games COO and Tarkov game director Nikita Buyanov posted that the team knew about the issues with the PvE mode and they would be fixed soon. While the timing could be a coincidence, it would not be a surprise if this patch made a lot of changes to the PvE mode.
Ever since the last Escape From Tarkov patch, players of the PvE mode have been disappointed with the changes it brought with it. After months of having longe queue times to find a server to play on alone, the previous patch tried to fix the issue by letting players run the game locally on their PC, without the need to connect to a server. However, given the massive amount of computational power Tarkov requires, a lot of which is handled by the servers, a lot of players were struggling to run the game or reporting frame rates well below what they would normally get.
There was also a crucial change made to the AI in the PvE mode in the last patch, with them now reacting to any sound made by another AI, regardless of faction. This meant that firing one bullet in the wrong location could lead to a swarm of scavs, AI PMCs and even bosses running at you all at once. It completely changed how the PvE mode was played, and usually not for the better.
Hopefully the new patch tomorrow will fix both of these issues, or at least relieve them somewhat, as well as add further improvements to the PvE mode. Given the issues that have popped up in recent weeks it seems unlikely that the promised ability to buy access to the mode as a microtransaction will also launch tomorrow.
