Frequent travelers—especially those who hold select Capital One credit cards—may already be familiar with Capital One Lounges. The lounge network is currently small, featuring locations at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Denver International Airport (DEN), and will soon open a new location at John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) in New York City.

Capital One announced the signing of a new 13,000 square foot Capital One Lounge. It promises to offer “the most expansive tarmac views of any Capital One Lounge yet.”

Where Will the New Capital One Lounge JFK Be Located?

The new Capital One Lounge will be in the retail hall in Terminal 4 of JFK Airport. It joins the recently opened Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club in Terminal 4. The addition of the Capital One Lounge is a welcome sight to the largest terminal at JFK, home to over 20 airlines and more than 25 million passengers each year.

What Will the Capital One Lounge Offer?

The lounge aims to hit all the hallmarks you’d expect—tons of outlets for charging, high-speed Wi-Fi and shower suites. It plans to offer locally sourced menu options, artworks in various mediums from local artists, and best of all, an in-lounge bodega—all with a distinct New York flavor.

There will also be a full-service coffee bar (featuring local coffee roasters), a local selection of beers, grab-and-go food options and a specially-trained cheesemonger with a variety of cheeses, cured meats and wines from the Hudson Valley and New York region.

Capital One’s local brewery partner has been challenged to craft the “perfect airport beer as an exclusive brew” to be served at the lounge.

How Can I Access the Capital One Lounge?

The easiest way to access a Capital One Lounge is to hold a card that grants unlimited access—the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card or Venture X Business*. These cards don’t exactly come cheap, carrying an annual fee of $395 (rates & fees). But, it costs noncardholders $65 per visit to enter, meaning if you fly more than six times a year and visit the lounge each time, it’s cheaper to hold one of these cards.

Venture X cardholders are allowed two complimentary guests per visit, and children under two may enter for free. Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card (rates & fees) and Capital One Spark Miles for Business* cardholders can enter at a special rate of $45 for themselves and their guests.

When Will the Capital One Lounge Be Open?

Currently, the lounge is under construction, so there isn’t a clear timetable for when it will be open to customers. A representative stated that Capital One is excited to share more details regarding opening, amenities and the customer experience as construction progresses.

Bottom Line

The new Capital One Lounge at JFK is mostly going to be accessible to people who live near or regularly fly from the greater New York area. If that’s you, this new lounge is exciting news. Soon, travelers will have a new place to kick their feet up while waiting for flights in Terminal 4. And if existing lounges provide any context, select Capital One cardholders departing JFK are in for a treat.
