Lebbeus Woods: “Neomechanical Tower (Upper) Chamber”

Speculative/conceptual architect Lebbeus Woods draws astonishing, catastrophic scenes of buildings and cities with decaying tectonics and fractured, jagged architectures that appear to be devouring their destroyed hosts from the inside out.

This drawing always struck me as intensely enigmatic: suggesting splintered, broken worlds without humans, where architectural spaces themselves become their own damaged inhabitants. Woods' cities consist of shattered buildings that seem to be crawling through and emerging out of debris and destruction, immense building-golems that have come to life without humanity. These images are documents of architectural viscera, shocking autopsies of the undiscovered ruins of our own societies.

There's a great cross section of his work here: curetheblind.com/2009/06/lebbeus-woods-author-of-fractures/
