Resting on the Horizon

I went to a wedding this past weekend on a very nice ship in Newport Harbor. I have done these types of things before, but I had never seen this ship before, which was a very pleasant surprise. It was 140' long and 33' wide (43m x 10m), which made for comfortably spacious interior spaces. There were three large enclosed decks with windows all around, and a fourth deck on top of the boat that afforded views above the rooftops of the homes on the peninsula and islands in the harbor.

According to the captain of the boat, the sun sets behind Catalina Island at this time of the year. It was difficult for me to verify this, as there seemed to be some remnants of the marine layer hanging around between the coast and the island.

Shot with an iphone, vignetting added in Aperture along with the watermark. No other adjustments were made.
