Conners Premium Lager - Don Valley Brewing Company (1990) Limited

September 23, 2013 - Conners Premium Lager from the Don Valley Brewing Company (1990) Limited in St. Catharines, Ontario. This particular sample (a 341 mL industry-standard glass bottle) has been in my basement fridge since before 1996 or 1997 when the Brick Brewery bought the brewery and closed it down. I usually like to tap the "beer cellar" on my birthday.

There was a hiss of carbonation when I removed the twist-off cap despite being upwards of seventeen years old. It poured out a deep amber with less than a finger of creamy white head that disappeared without lacing in less than five minutes. The nose was of malt and what smelled like a wine barrel. The taste was clean but deep and the 5% alcohol was evident. Probably not what it tasted like 17 years ago, but not skunky or spoiled. I don't think that there is another one of these in the beer fridge. The last of its kind now extinct for posterity?
