New Neighbor
I went to check on my house in Maine, this past Saturday, arriving after dark. When I got their, it was obvious that a moose was staying by the house.
Sunday morning, I shoveled the deck and opened a path to the side door. After completing some other chores, I set up my camera in hope of photographing chickadees and maybe a Gray Jay. About an hour later, this cow (female moose) came strolling up the driveway, walked through the yard , across the cut and disappeared into the woods. She was unfazed by my presence and has obviously taken up residence around the house.
Unfortunately, I had to leave on Monday for the 500 mile trip back to New York. I didn't get the opportunity to see her again.
Hopefully she'll still be around when I get back in March. I've had this house for 17 years and this is only the fourth time, moose have been close to the house. Black bears are more frequent visitors (especially if I have a bird feeder out).
