Downtown Denver at Dusk

A view of Downtown Denver from Confluence Park.

In the foreground, the Waterfalls of the South Platte River spill into the confluence with Cherry Creek, the original site where gold was discovered and Denver was born.

On the horizon, the white mast is the Millennium Bridge. Additional Bridge Photos and a Bridge Blog at www.Bridgepix.com.

The Denver Millennium Bridge is the world’s first cable-stayed bridge using its post-tensioned structural construction. Its 200-foot (61m) white tapered steel mast rises above Denver’s northwestern skyline, connected to the bridge deck and foundation anchors by steel cables. This unique footbridge crosses railroad tracks and the regional light rail system, climbing no higher than 25 feet (8m) above street level, thereby minimizing the height pedestrians must climb. Located near LoDo (Denver’s lower downtown), the Millennium Bridge connects the popular 16th Street Mall with the Riverfront Park in the Central Platte Valley neighborhood. (Wikipedia)

Qwest Building - Denver's second tallest skyscraper was completed in 1983 and serves as the world headquarters for Qwest Communications. The 709 foot, 53 story tower, is topped off with the Qwest logo which can be seen 70 miles away and is claimed to be the brightest high-rise logo in the world.
