BWP x Flickr and SmugMug: "Light in Motion"

Captured in the vibrant heart of Mexico City, this photograph introduces you to Maria, a passionate model hailing from Colombia, who journeyed to Mexico in pursuit of her modeling dreams. Our initial language barrier, with her speaking only Spanish and myself fluent in English, could not overshadow our shared passions for afrobeats and the creation of captivating imagery. Together, we orchestrated a photoshoot that continues to hold a special place in my heart.

In my submission for "Light in Motion", I've carefully chosen this particular image as it encapsulates the essence of the theme flawlessly. What struck me most about this moment was the way the sunlight gracefully filtered through the glass blocks, casting a mesmerizing dance of shadows and highlights above Maria as she twirled. It was as though the light itself was in motion, weaving its way through obstacles, symbolizing the shattering of glass ceilings.

The resonance of this image has a personal significance for me. In the face of recent challenges, the light breaking through those glass blocks serves as a powerful reminder that barriers can indeed be overcome, and ceilings can be shattered. This visual narrative motivates me to persist in my own journey, knowing that I carry a light within me capable of breaking through the obstacles that currently stand in my way. This photograph not only captures a moment of beauty but also embodies the enduring spirit of resilience. It is my hope that this image will inspire others as it has inspired me.
