Here come the ducks in their annual race

To see see who'll win and claim first place.

They've run the rapids round rocks and bends.

Coursed the river that rainfall brings.

All on their sides with their numbers in view.

Shireoaks Women's Institute Annual Duck Race down the river Ryton from Cinderhill bridge to the village garden. All caught before they go under the bridge. ( some got through the netting one year. ) We had wonderful dry but a bit too hot weather. The ducks took nearly 3 quarters of an hour to come down.
