This family took a few minutes to pose for this photographer as a friends and family picnic was winding down at a park mid afternoon on a Sunday. There smiles are indicative of the festive mood of the day which celebrated birthdays and graduations. Though I decided to capture this image with the primary light behind Brandon and his mother and father Kerry and Chris, I decided not to use a flash. I used center-weighted metering and probably focused on the people and dark tree in an attempt to keep the bright back light from overly influencing the exposure setting. Shot with my Canon Powershot SX50, a point and shoot I carry with me at all times when I am out of the house.
