Jimi Hendrix is placed here on level with past US presidents. It was not always the case. In 1969 he was arrested on smuggling heroin into Canada. He was found innocent, as the drugs were possibly planted by police into his luggage at the airport. This was his last visit to Toronto, shortly before Woodstock. Jimmy's is Canadian coffee mini-chain. They feature American stars (Hendrix, Page, Buffet, Morrison) as Canada does not have enough of famous people named Jim, James or Jimmy. Jim Galloway (sax) Jim Carrey (actor) James Cameron (film director) and Jim Flaherty (minister of finance) come to my mind. This 'Christiano' mural, is one of 9 Jimi Hendrix murals found on streets of Toronto. There may have been more, but I have only taken photos of the nine one summer.
Jimi HENDRIX, dead for 50 years, is very much alive in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. At least on the city walls.
