Unorthodox Tradition; Sophie Lukacs on Kora. Drom, TO.

Montrealer Sophie Lukacs had a gig with her Toronto friend Kobe at Drom Taberna, home of all kinds of music. Sophie is originally from Budapest, but possibly got introduced to this West African instrument in Montreal, which has a vibrant African musical scene. She lives now part of the year in Mali, but has concerts worldwide, when travel restrictions permit.

I caught the show by chance, as I was waiting (hours!) for a friend who had an appointment in hospital, but was glad I stayed.
