A tranquil inlet off the River Dart, Devon.

One of the many tidal creeks that wind inland off the main river. This is Dittisham Mill Creek, just north of the small village of Dittisham on the western bank of the River Dart. Like most of these inlets it drains completely at low tide and becomes mudflats.

Well away from any roads the only sound was birdsong and the occasional sploshing of something just breaking the surface in the shallows I couldn't quite make out. An otter perhaps as it was quite big (but not big enough for a seal) and seemed in too little water for a predatory fish to risk it.
