Kratié (Cambodge) - Ce terrain de volley-ball a été installé par la municipalité d’un petit hameau rural de la région de Kratié, afin d’offrir aux jeunes de quoi se dépenser physiquement. Dans le hameau, à part un bar-épicerie, il n'y a aucun lieu pour se retrouver. Alors le terrain de volley-ball attire une partie de la population locale chaque soir, quand la température devient plus supportable. On ne le voit pas sur cette photo, mais les femmes assistent aussi au match. Elles sont installées un peu plus loin sur le monticule de terre à gauche de la photo (hors cadre).
Le volley-ball est très populaire au Cambodge. Mais la pétanque est aussi un sport très pratiqué. Vestige de la présence française quand le Cambodge était intégrée à l’Indochine.
Rural sport
Kratié (Cambodia) - This volleyball court was installed by the municipality of a small rural hamlet in the region of Kratié, in order to provide young people with something to exercise physically. In the hamlet, apart from a grocery bar, there is no place to meet. So the volleyball court attracts part of the local population every evening, when the temperature becomes more bearable. We can't see it in this photo, but the women also attend the game. They are installed a little further on the mound of earth to the left of the photo (outside the frame).
Volleyball is very popular in Cambodia. But petanque is also a very popular sport. Vestige of the French presence when Cambodia was integrated into Indochina.
