I am a Swiss guy living in Toronto, Canada. I love to travel and I like photography as a hobby. I started very young with a Kodak Instamatic in the 60s and 70s
collectiblend.com/Cameras/Kodak-Eastman/Instamatic-255-X....,
when I was 16 I had my first SLR, a Konica T4

and in 1986 I bought my first Minolta SLR AF

been replaced by a Minolta AF3xi in1997

3 years ago I started with digital.
UPDATE, April 1st, 2009:
I am celebrating my second anniversary on Flickr now!
I got myself a new DSLR (Canon Rebel XTi) which I use together with the SD800 (I still love the small one, so easy to carry around and hide from security guards!) I learned a lot on Flickr in these two years, among other things:
-Too many people are obsessed with Explore, which is easy to manipulate (I did it myself)
-I will never get into HDR, too many people already do it and many do it great!!
-Too many group members just post and run and expect to get comments without commenting other photos!
-Some people just add you as a contact and throw tons of awards and invitations at your photos without really looking at them!
-Many of my photos have been stolen and used on Blogs and other things.
-I met some great photographers and friends here and I sold some of my photos, which were used on websites, for art projects or charity, others appeared in newspapers, magazines or calendars and one is hanging in the lobby of the Sheraton Hotel in Toronto now!
-Some people called me a snapshot photographer, without artistic aspirations, well that is fine with me. I try to find interesting objects and great angles, try to compose and crop well in other words, I want to collect photos which I like not to make Explore or please certain so called experts!
I am not very much interested in most technical details of a camera!
I am now and will ever be a true amateur photographer!
My favorite objects are architecture and landscape, I will concentrate on that, but I will try some other objects from time to time!
I also found out, that it is not really important, what kind of camera you use, as long as you have a great eye for the beauty in our world!!
As I am a skyscraper freak, I created the "UltimateSkyscraperShots" group:
Originally I am a mountain boy from Switzerland, so this is my second group:
My newest creation is the SwissCanadianColors group:
I am an administrator for the Pritzker Architecture Prize on Flickr and the PritzkerPrizeFirstChoice groups:
I hope to have a lots of fun here and as I am already a Flickrholic, I must find time for my other duties and interests!!

In the matter of photography Reto is one of my unreachable ideals, who are an important inspiration for my own progress. Many of his photos could belong to one of those famous high gloss photo magazines. I admire his ability to capture a single moment and to transfer this trice in to an impressive treasure. An exceptional talent - just what I call an artist. Marco
Read lessthe images swisscan creates are sometimes the most incredible compositions, of the most ordinary objects. his eye for colour, angles and shapes brings to life an amazing insight into the world around us, and his photostream is definitely one of my favourites on flickr. keep up the good work!

His pictures are some of the best architectural shots I've ever seen. I love patterns, reflections and unusual points of view and his images utilize at least one of these or all of them. I look forward to new works.
Ein aussergewöhnlicher Bildautor. Durchgehend eine sehr sehr hohe Bildqualität in Gestatung und Technik. Ein Bildautor dessen Sammlungen ich gerne immer wieder ansehe ;-)
swisscan’s profile refers to “…a great eye for the beauty in our world!!” and I agree that is what this talented photographer possesses. A delight in colour, buildings (especially skyscrapers), reflections and the patterns and details to be found in the urban world form a large part of Reto’s work. However, there is … Read more
swisscan’s profile refers to “…a great eye for the beauty in our world!!” and I agree that is what this talented photographer possesses. A delight in colour, buildings (especially skyscrapers), reflections and the patterns and details to be found in the urban world form a large part of Reto’s work. However, there is a significant number of charming nature shots too and the ability to appreciate and capture the beauty of two different worlds makes for a distinctive and enjoyable photostream.
