I am a hobbyist photographer (at best), and have been asked to shoot a family portrait. it will be outdoors in the fall foliage with 2 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs. Any tips for a newbie? I shoot with a Canon 7D with a stock lens, 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6.

Thanks!

If the sun is out, put them in shade. If there is overcast no worry. This is because in the sun they will end up with shadows on their faces, not good. It is always best to take a reflector or fill flash as well. If you are in shade and using slower shutter speeds you may want to take a tripod to avoid motion blur(camera shake). It's also usually best to shoot the hour or so after sunrise or before sunset for best light....
