It seems to me, many thinks flickr is a giant free photo library and free to use whatever they wish. Often, if they ask nicely I would let them use my photos and most would at least give me credit for my images. However, a site gtanightlife.blogspot.com/2008/03/gta-nightlife.html has been using more than a dozen of my photos without my permission and with no credit. After my request to remove them was ignore. At first, I deleted some of them and later I thought maybe I should just replace them with some more amusing photos. At least I have the last laugh!

This is, of course, always the danger with putting stuff out there on the web that's easy to download. It's a shame that so many sites take photos at will. Hopefully our group rules/description helps to overcome this problem at blogTO.

Thanks for contributing.

From what I can tell this site has been dormant since April 2008. They are within the legal parameters of Flickr in that the images link back to your photostream which isn't the same as if they had downloaded them and were posting them as part of the site.

That being said it would have been nice of them to ask permission. If you don't want this happening there is a way to opt out which is covered here:

yes, I noticed they have no new enteries since April 2008 however most of the photos they used were the ones I took at this year's nuit blanche and other were from July's Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition this year. The ones on nuit blanche showed up always within the hours. What bother me not only they used my photos without asking also for a site about the going out in toronto, they never been to those events themself.

I have a feeling they may have set some sort of automatic link to your shots; so every time you upload something it shows it on their site. I've had a fair number of hits from sites like "TorontoSeeker" that seem to pull random content from Flickr-i.e. anything tagged Toronto. Porbably best way to get it taken down would be to approach their webhost directly and complain about unauthorised use of images

Many sites like this use an auto script that pulls photos with certain tags directly from Flickr -- usually the most recent photos with those tags. I've often received hits from sites like this; this is by far not the only site that does it. No one's actually *taking* the photo, they're just feeding it from Flickr, which as mentioned above is actually allowed under Flickr's terms.
