ROMWalks

My lovely mum e-mailed me this information about the ROMwalks. Thought it might be a great way to take photos & learn a little history and bodacious facts along the way. Usually you just pass by statues and other things and not really know why and what they stand for. Here is some information:

ROMWalks are free, guided walking tours in Toronto neighbourhoods of "architectural and historic interest". They include:

* Historic Toronto on May 13: Toronto's First Post Office, Bank of Upper Canada, St. Lawrence Market, St. James' Cathedral, and more
* The Danforth on May 17: Prince Edward Viaduct, Danforth Music Hall, Playter Farmhouse, Carrot Common, early 20th century churches, and more
* Hidden Treasures: Sculpture in the City on June 3: Sculptures in the downtown area from the Sculpture Garden opposite St. James' Cathedral to the Archer in Nathan Phillips Square
* The Necropolis on June 7: includes the graves of William Lyon Mackenzie, Peter Matthews and Samuel Lount, Ned Hanlon, George Brown, Thornton Blackburn, and Joseph Bloor

The free walks take place on most Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons from May to September -- just look for the blue umbrella! No registration is required. To see all ROMWalk options use the drop-down menu to select "ROMWalk".
