I like this new site a lot because it includes shipping and taxes in their price comparision.

www.photoprice.ca/

The price differences for camera equipment between Canada and the U.S. are so large (20-40%) that it often pays to shop outside Canada even after shipping and taxes.

Thank you!

This site is amazing! I've known for a long time that Canadian's were getting screwed by retailers but this summerizes it perfectly.

Also, It has detailed information regarding border/customs best ways to ship and legally reduce the taxes you will be charged!

Awsome!

Should I wait until late November to buy the Olympus E-3, or scoop up a E-510 while the currency/price disconnect still exists?

How long do you think this price difference will last?

That is a nice link :) Something I had been looking for. For general shopping in Canada, pricecanada.com can also be helpful.

I really think that supporting the Canadian economy is best placed in the area of other products. Since none of the camera products have production sources in Canada, I feel no compulsion to pay a 40% premium in CAD dollars as the exchange rate moves towards 1.10 in our favor.

Nor do I care that the retailers have inventory that was purchased at a higher price, as a consumer in a free market economy i'll move towards the lower price... woo unto the retailer who waits for me to come to them. I feel no more sympathey for the retailer than I would a stock broker who sold short while the market rallies.... its part of business and... if they want mine their prices will need to come into line.

I think we all would prefer to buy our photography needs in our local store but at the end of the day it's price that will dictate if we will. I am willing to pay more for a local store but definitely not at these prices now.

I want to support the local economy and I am more willing to support my own economy first.
