Post your pictures of the River Tay here, please.

I have heard that the name 'Tay' may be derived from a very old word meaning something like 'flood' or 'much water'.

The theory is that several rivers on the east of the UK have names derived from the same older word. In prehistory, settlers from further east arrived and tended to call things by the same names wherever they ended up.

So now we have river names like Tay, Dee, Tyne and several others all on the east coast which might all originally come from the same root word.

One of my favourite rivers, and one I haven't visited since I started using digital cameras. I must have some prints or slides of it kicking about - might get round to scanning some in when I have some time to spare. I love your aerial view!

Loads of pics of the Tay on film. This might be a good excuse to get more on digital as well.

I have placed a couple of Tay images in the pool. One of my plans for this year is to cover the Tay from source to mouth. It is the longest river in the uk and will take me from ben Lui to near St Andrews / Carnoustie Golf Courses. I'll keep you posted.
