It's about time I started a new form of the RNB pool index. The new index now shows the RNB codes (in black). It is helpful if members can add these codes to their photos in the pool, but (when I have time!) I go through the images and add codes as required.
The point of the RNB tags is to separate different rivers of the same name (eg, the various rivers called Avon,...
I've noticed recently that none of the photos I post for the River Tweed are accepted. This is in spite of me including the tag for the River. Strange!?
Checking the group of inappropriate photos is a chore, but there are regular examples of photos with the river name omitted, some photos of rivers elsewhere in the world, sometimes it is clear the language of the pool is not understood. Some contributions are baffling, such as this, on 1 February 2021.

Well, it's a tributary really. The River Coln, which runs through a number of Cotswold villages (including Fairford, where I grew up) before joining the Thames at Lechlade.
Inspired by a suggestion from Werewegian, I am trying out a thread for pictures of a single river. You are invited to post the small versions of your shots of the Clyde on this thread.
Please set up your own threads for any river you are interested in. (To add the link, click on "All Sizes", then "Small", then copy link 1, and paste this into the thread.)

Post your pictures of the River Tay here, please.
I have heard that the name 'Tay' may be derived from a very old word meaning something like 'flood' or 'much water'.
The theory is that several rivers on the east of the UK have names derived from the same older word. In prehistory, settlers from further east arrived and tended to call things by the same names wherev...
Snow Falls in the southern Brecon Beacons is on the Afon Hepste, a tributary of the River Neath / Afon Nedd. Can't find Hepste in the group - should it be categorised as Neath / Nedd or does it deserve its own entry?
The Carew River is a tributary of the Dolgleddau, or Cleddau, River in Pembrokeshire. I can't see it listed on the latest index.
Also, I'd like advice on whether this particular shot is eligible for the group. The stretch of river it shows is actually a tidal pond, created by a dam just downstream. So, it's a river, but also a pond. Can it go in the group?
Hi I have just joined the group and posted a few pictures, If I have exceeded an upload limit please feel free to remove some and accept my apologies. My local river is The River Clyde but I am also close to the River Leven.
Have you ever wondered by what process a river gets its name throughout its whole length? I do not mean the important rivers - transport links, boundaries (ancient and modern), etc - but the countless ordinary meandering rivers passing through numerous towns and villages. Originally in history they must have had different names throughout their lengths. I mean no-one ha...
I have posted this photo of the Dye, I see the Dye is not listed in the list yet. It's in the Scottish Borders and flows into the River Whiteadder. It's the first one I've taken of the Dye but will try to get some more. It's in the Scottish Borders at Longformacus
This river, approximately nine miles in length, commences at Orpington Ponds, and flows via St. Mary Cray, St. Paul's Cray, Footscray, North Cray, Bexley and Crayford before joining the River Darent near Dartford.
There are references to the Cray as early as 785AD when Offa, the King of Mercia, gave some land named Craeges Aewlma to one of his vassels, a man called Ufa....
Hi
Joined in the last few days. Live in Bristol & have a fair few shots of the river Avon.
Here are the first (of many, I expect), Tom.
#1 & #2 River Avon, flooded by combination of snow melt water, rain and, not helped by, a high tide downstream. The trees are usually near the river bank. I'll get a few in daylight after the water has subsided for comparison.
