First Teaser for Disney's Live-Action 'Snow White' with Rachel Zegler

Snow White Trailer

"Magic mirror on the wall, who's the fairest one of all...?" Obviously you, Gal Gadot! Disney has revealed a first look trailer for the live-action re-imagining of the classic animated movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. At D23, Disney revealed the teaser trailer for Snow White, directed by Marc Webb, now set to open early 2025. "Disney invites you to return to the story that started it all..." The magical music adventure journeys back to the timeless story with beloved characters Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy. With Andrew Burnap as Jonathan, Ansu Kabia as the Huntsman, Dujonna Gift as Maple, and Martin Klebba as Grumpy. Well this doesn't look interesting at all, so cheesy and glossy, doesn't even seem like a live-action movie. What do you think?

Agatha All Along Trailer

Barry Jenkins' Animated Prequel 'Mufasa: The Lion King' Full Trailer

Mufasa: The Lion King Trailer

"I always wanted a brother!" At D23, Disney revealed their full official trailer for the Mufasa: The Lion King movie, from director Barry Jenkins (of Moonlight & If Beale Street Could Talk). The prequel about the rise of one of the greatest kings of the Pride Lands, returns to the African savanna where Rafiki tells Kiara about her grandfather. Told with flashbacks, we're introduced to Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost & alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka—the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny. This isn't so much The Lion King 2, more of a prequel + sequel combined. With the voices of Aaron Pierre as Mufasa, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Taka, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, John Kani as Rafiki. And Tiffany Boone, Kagiso Lediga, Preston Nyman, Thandiwe Newton, Mads Mikkelsen, Anika Noni Rose, Keith David, John Kani, with Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, and introducing Blue Ivy Carter as Kiara, daughter of King Simba & Queen Nala. This trailer is slightly better than the teaser, but it still looks pretty bad. The animation is so obvious & clunky, the voices don't even match up. Oh well...

First Trailer for Anna Kendrick's Directorial Debut 'Woman of the Hour'

Woman of the Hour Trailer

"We're gonna have a great time together, Cheryl." VVS Films in Canada has unveiled the first trailer for an indie thriller film titled Woman of the Hour, which is the feature directorial debut of Anna Kendrick. This premiered at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival last year, and still doesn't even have a US release set yet. Strangely a year later and no announcement. VVS will debut this in Canada and it has a release set in a few other countries, but that's it so far. Based on a true story, Rodney Alcala was a killer in the midst of a killing spree when he brazenly took part in, and won a date on, the popular TV game show "The Dating Game." Kendrick also stars in this as Cheryl Bradshaw, the woman who appears on the show that night. TIFF says the film explores the idea that "when you’re confronted by the rage of men, the only way to make it out alive is to play the game." This stars Daniel Zovatto, Nicolette Robinson, Tony Hale, Kathryn Gallagher, and Kelley Jakle. This looks damn good, offering a uniquely original and very cinematic take on this story.

Watch: Hilariously Gross Comedy Short 'Pink Eye' from Jacob Motz

Pink Eye Short Film

"It's not a big deal." Or is it?! Ewww. There's a hilarious new comedy short going around called Pink Eye, created by the filmmaker Jacob Motz. It's a story of what happens when someone in control loses control - because they're having a bad day with a bad case of Pink Eye. Thanks to our friends at Short of the Week, it's now available online to watch. An alpha female spirals when trying to navigate her challenging calendar while infected by a disgusting case of Pink Eye. Starring Jesse Burgum as Shell, along with Zach Gilford, June Christopher, Jadah Marie, and Constance Parng. Motz explains his inspiration for this short: "I had just read a fantastic short story by Nikolai Gogol called 'The Nose,' which is really absurd satire, and love the way that story poked fun at human nature (about an aristocrat who wakes up one day to discover his nose is missing). I loved an extreme unexpected incident like that to instigate a spiral for a character." 😉

Cosmic Sci-Fi Film 'The Paragon' Trailer - Made on Shoestring Budget

The Paragon Trailer

"You will find the paragon for me!" Doppelgänger Releasing has unveiled an official trailer for a film called The Paragon, made by New Zealand filmmaker Michael Duignan. This wacky lo-fi sci-fi thriller originally premiered at the 2023 New Zealand Film Festival last year, and is getting a theatrical debut in the US this fall. It was shot over 13 days in Auckland, New Zealand on a budget of around $15,000 in US dollars. That's a considerably tiny budget! Yet this still looks pretty damn good. The victim of a hit and run learns how to be psychic so he can find the car that hit him and take revenge on the driver. Everything converges towards the singularity in Michael Duignan's feature film debut, a "hilarious rift in space-time." Starring Benedict Wall, Florence Noble, Jessica Grace Smith, & Jonny Brugh. Reviews say it "gives its all, embracing its DIY nature to deliver a light and breezy sci-fi comedy, and what it lacks [from the] budget it more than compensates for in low-key charm." If you're into this kind of spunky, clever DIY filmmaking - check it out.
