Land Rover has introduced the most powerful Defender. Called Defender 'Octa' powerful vehicle to don the Defender badge with a V8 Twin Turbo motor plonked into it. 

It will make its debut  public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next week.

Land Rover has revealed prices for the Defender Octa in India starting at Rs 2.65 crore. The Edition One, which will be available through the first year of production, will be priced at Rs 2.85 crore (both prices ex-showroom).

The new ‘Octa’ name is inspired by the vehicle’s diamond’s octahedron shape, since diamond happens to be the hardest naturally occurring substance on Earth, renowned for its rarity.

Available only in the 110 body style, 'Octa' is the JLR's new sub-brand for special edition Defenders.

Powering the Defender Octa is a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged mild-hybrid V8 engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

This motor dishes out more than 600 bhp and up to 800 Nm of  peak torque.

Despite weighing over 2.5 tonnes, it attains 0 to 100kmph in under four seconds. Top speed is limited to 250 kmph.

The Defender Octa rides 29.94mm higher than the standard Defender and comes with Active dampers.

Defender Octa rolls on 33-inch Goodyear Advance all-terrain tyres with 15.7-inch disc brakes at the front.

Approach angle stands at 40 degrees (up from 37.5 degrees), departure angle to 42 degrees (up from 40 degrees) and breakover angle to 29 degrees (up from 27.9 degrees)

Maximum ground clearance of 319mm. The wading depth of 1000mm.
