Gautam Gambhir has officially taken over as India’s head coach, replacing Rahul Dravid, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Tuesday. Dravid bid farewell to the team after guiding them to victory in the T20 World Cup 2024, his final assignment.

In the lead-up to the T20 World Cup, Dravid had made it clear that he would not sign an extension post the ICC event. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced Gambhir’s appointment, marking a new chapter for Indian cricket.

“It is with immense pleasure that I welcome Mr Gautam Gambhir as the new Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team. Modern-day cricket has evolved rapidly, and Gautam has witnessed this changing landscape up close. Having endured the grind and excelled in various roles throughout his career, I am confident that Gautam is the ideal person to steer Indian Cricket forward,” Shah posted on X.
