Introduction

A family's worth of bikes takes up a ton of space in the garage. And even one bike can pose a storage problem for a student in a studio apartment.

This bike hanger is right at home in either location. Your bike hangs on the front, there's room for your helmet, gloves and shoes, and it all looks great.

This easy-to-build, affordable bike hanger can be built in a day from less than a quarter-sheet of plywood. Have more than one bike? Make as many as you need!

Materials Required

  • (1) 2' x 4' x 3/4" Baltic birch plywood

Step 7

Apply a finish

  • Sand the assembled bike hanger and apply your favorite wood finish. Baltic birch looks fantastic with a clear finish. If that’s not for you, go with a favorite solid paint color.
Step 8

Mount to the wall

  • Align the pre-drilled mounting holes to studs on the wall.
  • Attach the bike hanger to the wall using three-inch lag screws.
    • Pro tip: Do not use drywall anchors. A fully-loaded bike hanger may cause the drywall to fail.
    • If you’re a renter, find out if you can mount a bike hanger without forfeiting your damage deposit.
