About The Part-time MSc Financial Management Programme

Our Part-time MSc Financial Management programme is tailored for working professionals. Spanning two years, it combines online learning with face-to-face workshops held in Dubai, allowing students to balance studies with work commitments. The curriculum covers key financial areas like corporate finance and investment analysis, taught by experienced faculty.

About Dr Susanne Espenlaub:

Dr Susanne Espenlaub is Professor of Accounting & Finance at the Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester. Dr Espenlaub as an internationally recognised academic who has an extensive record of research published in highly prestigious and world-leading academic journals. Her research areas are corporate and entrepreneurial finance including venture capital, private equity and private debt. Some of her recent work deals with cross-border flows of venture capital and private equity (VCPE), the determinants of VCPE performance, the reasons for VCPE performance persistence, and the investment practices of private-debt funds. Her research has also examined share issuance and buybacks including the performance of initial public offerings (IPOs) and the impact of listing rules, legal system and investor protection on the delisting of IPO stocks. Some of her earlier research deals with corporate governance and control and includes studies on executive remuneration and outsourcing. She has recently been involved in research on financial literacy and self-efficacy alongside experts in education. Prof. Espenlaub is the programme director for the MSc Financial Management at AMBS. She has extensive and excellent track record of teaching students at all levels: undergraduate, MSc and MBA, and on a wide range of subjects including finance, accounting, business and entrepreneurship.


About Professor Dr Arif Khurshed:

Arif completed his PhD from the ICMA Centre, University of Reading and joined the University of Manchester as a post-doctoral research associate. Subsequently, he took up a lectureship in Finance. He was promoted to Professor of Finance in 2013. He is currently the Associate Head of Research for the Accounting & Finance Division in Alliance Manchester Business School.

Arif’s research interests span a number of areas in corporate finance including IPOs, venture capital, payout policy and trade credit. He is the author of the book ‘The Mechanics and Performance of Initial Public Offerings. Arif has a passion for teaching and has been the recipient of a number of faculty outstanding teaching awards over the years.

Arif is on the editorial board of the British Accounting Review and the newly launched Journal of Sustainable Finance & Accounting. Previously he has served as an academic member of the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) and as an external consultant to the UK Financial Conduct Authority and the British Venture Capital Association (BVCA). He has also been called upon as an expert witness in matters of corporate litigation.
