Parliamentary Conference on the World Trade Organisation

On 25 February 2024, the Abu Dhabi Session of the Parliamentary Conference on the WTO took place. Over 200 Members of Parliament from all over the world called for stronger role in global trade at WTO meeting.

This gathering, co-organised by the European Parliament and the Inter-Parliamentary Union and hosted by the Federal National Council of UAE, was held on the eve of the WTO Thirteenth Ministerial Conference (MC13).

A delegation of nine Members of the European Parliament, all of the Committee on International Trade, meet parliamentarians from all over the world to enter into dialogue with WTO negotiators and officials on challenges and opportunities facing the body (more info).

The topics on the agenda included 'shaping and strengthening a multilateral trading system that delivers for all', 'trade and climate change: a win-win interaction' and digital trade in the era of resilient economies'.

At the end of the Conference, the parliamentarians adopted an outcome document, which was presented to the President of MC13.
