OUT OF ALL THE Grand Slams, Wimbledon is the biggest celebrity magnet. Perhaps it’s something to do with summer in London or watching the world’s best battle it out on grass (the only major to still take place on a grass court). If anything, the prestigious occasion calls for such celebs – no matter how little they have to do with sports for the remaining 11 months of the year – to serve a look. And some of the best men’s summer style moments have been gleaned from the stands over the years: Brad Pitt‘s APC knit polo from last year, David Beckham‘s chocolate brown Ralph Lauren double-breasted suit in 2022, or any of Sir Cliff Richard’s out-of-the-box jackets.

With week one of the tournament just starting, there are already some clear winners in the celeb courtside style stakes. Beckham, Kiwi actor-director Taika Waititi, and musicians James Blake and Bradley Simpson prove that tan suits are the classic colour for formal daytime events. But as they’ve shown, changing things up just a little – a knit tie, a matching tan T-shirt, embroidery on the lapel – also makes it the most versatile without sticking out too much. Singer Arlo Parks brought American prep to the traditional British event in Thom Browne. Grace Jones, who can do whatever she wants and do no wrong, ooh‘d and aah‘d in an army pilot suit and matching helmet. And as much as Wimbledon is a national sporting tradition, it’s also a family tradition. A couple of days after Becks Sr. graced the stands with his presence, Romeo Beckham was seen in a green suede jacket on day three.
