Did we just hit our heads on the pavement? Because we can't believe we're actually saying it, but a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is reportedly finally in the works.

According to Puck and Variety, a sequel to the 2006 hit comedy has finally received an official green light from Disney and Meryl Streep, who portrayed the fabulous ice-queen editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly, and has reportedly signed on to come back alongside co-star Emily Blunt.

Anne Hathaway's involvement in the upcoming sequel is unclear, though we can't really imagine a proper sequel without her anti-fashionista take on Andy Sachs. Over the years, she's expressed doubt in a sequel coming to fruition, at least with her involved. Screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna is also set to return and was reportedly a key factor in securing Streep's return. Disney has declined to comment on the status of the sequel.

According to Puck, the sequel will follow Priestly as she's now facing 'the dystopian post-noughties realities of the magazine business' and will be going head-to-head with her former assistant Emily Charlton (Blunt) who is now a 'high-powered executive at a Kering or LVMH-style luxury group whose advertising dollars Priestly desperately needs.'

Fans of the original film, of course, were quick to show their excitement—and hesitation—at the news of a sequel. We'd firmly file The Devil Wears Prada on our unofficial list of Absolutely Perfect Movies That Should Never Be Touched — but with potentially the entirety of the original cast on board, maybe the magic can be created just one more time.
