Vivian Kalil Srouji OBITUARY

Vivian Srouji (nee Kalil), aged 79, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on June 25, 2024, in Danville, California. Born on June 21, 1945, in San Francisco, California, to Yasmine and Nasir Kalil, Vivian was a beacon of kindness and warmth throughout her life.Vivian graduated from Lowell High School and went on to earn master’s degrees in English and Counseling. She began her career as a high school English teacher, and later transitioned into becoming a guidance counselor. As a counselor Vivian had a strong and natural skill for caring and advocating for students and their families. She spent many fulfilling years guiding and supporting her students at San Ramon Valley High School with passion and dedication.Family was the cornerstone of Vivian’s life. She was deeply devoted to her husband, John Ghassan Srouji, and their sons, John (Bria) and Michael Srouji. Vivian’s sisters, Jean Kalil and Sylvia Cherezian, also held a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Yasmine and Nasir Kalil.An active and nurturing individual, Vivian loved spending time cooking, traveling, and laughing with friends. Her faith was steady, and she was always ready to lend a helping hand. Vivian’s life was a testament to her brilliant, thoughtful, and caring nature.A private family viewing will be held, with a larger celebration of life to be scheduled in the coming weeks at the family home. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to The Vivian Srouji Memorial Scholarship Fund.
