Stephen Slavin OBITUARY

Stephen Joseph Slavin was born in Brooklyn, NY to Evelyn and Morris Slavin in 1940. His early childhood years were spent in Passaic, New Jersey until his family moved to the dry climate of Tucson, Arizona for his mother’s health. Steve grew up attending public schools. After high school, Steve enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, served for four years, and post honorable discharge attended the University of Arizona. He graduated in 1966 with a BS in Public Administration. He met his future wife, Rosemary Ann Jenkin at UofA.He moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where he and Rosemary were married. He spent 33 years in the telecommunications field – starting with Pacific Telephone and AT&T, followed by twenty years at Chevron Corp. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and wife Rosemary. He is survived by three daughters and their spouses (Kimberly and Steve, Amy and Bennett, and Leslie and Ryan), five grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in his honor, such as donations to Guide Dogs for the Blind of San Rafael, the Contra Costa County Food Bank, or East Bay Hospice Bruns House.
