Mark Lynch OBITUARY

Mark Lynch, 91, passed away to eternal life on June 18, 2024, in Concord, CA. Son of Irish born Bryan and Bessie Lynch, Mark was a long-time resident of El Sobrante and Walnut Creek. Mark was predeceased by his sisters Carol Lynch, Rita Lynch, and Dorothy Walsh and brothers Eugene Walsh, T.J. Walsh, Bryan Lynch, and Jimmy Lynch, and his daughter Monica Lynch. He is survived by his daughter Eleanor Lynch, sons Bryan and Darren Lynch, and granddaughters Eireann and Rhiann Van Natta.Mark graduated from St Elizabeth High School and went on to play baseball for Santa Rosa Junior College where he was a part of their first state championship team in 1952. He spent two years in the army and 16 months in Korea. Mark had a 30-year career with the Richmond Fire Department, retiring in 1987 as Deputy Chief. He then achieved his BA degree from Cal State Hayward in 1989. Mark went on to work several more years as a counselor at Salesian High School, where his sons had both attended, before fully retiring to spend time with friends and family, playing golf, and later adding a commitment to volunteer for veterans as a veteran himself who came from a family of service members in the various branches. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to Salesian High School in Richmond, CA.There will be a Celebration of Mark’s Life on Friday, July 19 from 11:30 – 12:30 at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery located at 26320 Mission Blvd in Hayward.
