Gary James Leonard OBITUARY

Gary James Leonard, 79, of Concord, CA, passed away on May 13, 2024. Born in Albany, CA, he grew up in El Cerrito and graduated from El Cerrito High. Gary joined the National Guard and was stationed at Fort Ord. In 1965, he became a police officer for the city of Concord. He married Carol Spicer and had two children, Diana and Greg. Gary remarried in 1990 to Valerie and moved to Arizona in 2004 where they both retired. He moved back to Concord following Valerie’s death in 2016. He is survived by his daughter Diana Rivera (Rick), his son Greg Leonard (Stacey), his grandchildren Alyssa, Anthony, Caitlyn, Jackson, and his sister Sandy Leonard. He was preceded in death by his wife Valerie, his parents Robert and Sylvia Leonard, and sister Sharon Leonard. Gary will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sat., July 13th at 3pm at the CPOA Academy Hall, 5060 Avila Road, Concord.
