Barbara Shubert OBITUARY

Barbara Shubert (Jellett) was born in Oakland Ca on January 29th, 1942, she died on June 15, 2024, in Walnut Creek Ca. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Matthew and Doris Jellett, and her brother Morgan Jellett. She is survived by her sister-in-law Ceil Jellett of Madison Al, nephew Matthew Jellett (Ingrid), grandniece Isabelle, Bellingham Washington, and nephew Timothy Jellett and grandnephews Evan and Dane, Rockledge Florida.Barbara was known throughout life as being bright, friendly and having a positive attitude that exuded a can-do spirit. She was a long-time parishioner of St Mary’s Catholic church in Walnut Creek having had her first communion there in the 1950’s. A graduate of Acalanes high school in Lafayette and San Jose State, she became an elementary school teacher in the Mt Diablo School district for 35 years. Barbara was a long-time endurance athlete, having won her age group in the Hawaii Ironman twice during the 1980’s. She was an animal lover, having owned riding and race horses, and many dogs that were her constant faithful companions. An internment blessing will be held at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery at 12:00 noon July 26, 2024, the blessing will be by Father William of St. Mary’s, before she is laid to rest with her mother Doris Allington; location, Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 1965 Reliez Valley Rd, Lafayette, CA 94549.In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to St. Mary’s St. Vincent de Paul Pantry, 2051 Mt Diablo Blvd, Walnut Creek, CA 94596
