Welcome to the DREAM Lab!

Dr. Dylan Selterman is a scientist, researcher, educator, writer, and podcaster.

I am a social-personality psychologist working as an Associate Teaching Professor at the Johns Hopkins University Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. My research interests include: interpersonal attraction, relationships, and sexuality, morals and ethics, political psychology, happiness and well-being, and patterns of dreaming. I teach courses on introductory psychology, well-being, and social attraction. I also lead mindfulness meditation for students. My column for Psychology Today is called The Resistance Hypothesis. I co-host the podcast A Bit More Complicated (Apple, Spotify) with Manuel Galvan. I am passionate about learning, growth, curiosity, creativity, flourishing, human development, and working to create a better world with science. You can contact me here or at: dselter1 [at] jh [dot] edu.

My TEDx talk is about what we can learn from our dreams. For my own takes on the “commons dilemma” exercise that went viral, read these opinion pieces in The Washington Post, The Conversation, National Geographic, and The Baltimore Sun. See other media coverage of my work on NPR, Vox, Washington Post, OprahMag, Huffington Post, Jezebel, Nerve, BPS Digest, Baltimore Sun, ABC News, USA Today, Buzzfeed, and NBC
