On Friday the United Pickleball Association (UPA) announced it will host the Colorado United Pickleball State Championship Series Sept. 13-15 at the newly-constructed pickleball center at the Steamboat Springs Tennis and Pickleball Complex, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

The Colorado UPA State Championships will identify the top amateur pickleball players in the country, with 100% of tournament proceeds benefiting local youth pickleball outreach through the Steamboat Springs Pickleball Association and Stop Alzheimer's Now, an organization focused on eradicating Alzheimer's disease by funding cutting-edge research aimed at finding a cure.

Colorado UPA State Championship Series will take place at the newly constructed, 35,000 square-foot pickleball center, within the Steamboat Tennis & Pickleball Complex, which opened its doors in July. The pickleball center, which broke ground in 2023, at an investment totaling over $12 million, features 12 cushioned indoor pickleball courts, a pro shop, and dedicated mezzanine level for tournament viewing and entertainment.

“To host a national tournament of this caliber at our brand new pickleball facility is an honor of the highest caliber,” said Jayson Harris, Director of Pickleball, Steamboat Tennis & Pickleball Complex. “Never before has a championship pickleball series of this magnitude been held in Colorado, and we are thrilled to welcome players from across the state here to Steamboat.”

The winners across each skill level and age group will earn the title of UPA State Champion.

Skill levels: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0. Age groups: 18U, 19+, 35+, 50+, 60+, 70+. Playing divisions: Men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles.

Each state championship medalist will qualify for the elite champions division brackets, earning the potential to move on to the UPA World Championships at the Brookhaven Country Club in Dallas, Texas on Nov. 4-10, 2024.

State champions (gold medalists) receive free registration into the UPA World Championships and will compete in the exclusive champions division brackets to determine the best amateurs in the country. Second-place finishers (silver medalists) will receive 50% off their registration fee, and third-place finishers (bronze medalists) will receive 33% off.
