Durango Transit routes will not be in service on Thursday, July 4. The Independence Day holiday is one of several regularly scheduled no-service dates.

The Transit Center will also be closed all day and the EV charging stations at the Transit Center will be closed from 4 to 10:30 p.m. However, metered parking downtown will be free.

A free shuttle will run from the La Plata County Fairgrounds to the Transit Center from 4 to 10 p.m. to alleviate some of the parking congestion expected due to holiday events in town.

“We operate in a rural town, and our employees deserve some time off on the holidays as well,” said Sarah Hill, transportation director for the city of Durango.

All normal transit services are scheduled to resume Friday, July 5.
