Taken before 1900, this photo shows the Buchanan sisters, Ruby Fry and Nettie Grabowsky, with their husbands and friends on a day trip near Rockwood. Daughters of Hermosa orchardist, Andrew Buchanan, they are the two women on horseback holding bottles. The Buchanans were early settlers and a prominent La Plata County family at the turn of the century.
