Nurturing plants

Healthy skin is beautiful skin.

Skin care products from Dr. Hauschka rely on the revitalising powers of nature. With their specific properties, each individual plant makes our cosmetic formulations even more effective. And they are also made with all the expertise and accuracy of a pharmaceutical manufacturer.

Pharmaceutical knowledge for our cosmetics.

As a pharmaceutical manufacturer, we know that every plant and every natural ingredient together with its specific properties plays a part in making the overall product composition harmonious and effective. We select all our nurturing plants and extracts for Dr. Hauschka Skin Care with the same care we use for WALA Medicines.

What exactly makes a plant a nurturing plant?

First and foremost, the fact that it is not quite ‘normal’. Plants with typical characteristics do not harbor any particular potential; the ‘black sheep’ on the other hand are interesting. They may blossom at an unusual time of year or grow in a climatically extreme location. Being different in this way requires special strengths, and these are precisely what make a plant a nurturing plant. We harness their ‘super powers’ and use them in our premium natural skin care.

We are very picky about our plants.

We make abundant use of nature’s treasures in our Dr. Hauschka Skin Care formulations. Ideally, our plants come from:

  • Our herb garden, where they are biodynamically grown
  • The fields of our Demeter-certified biodynamic farm, the Sonnenhof
  • Sustainable cultivation partnerships – either local or in other parts of the world if the plant species does not thrive in our climate
  • Wild harvesting in the nearby Swabian Jura mountains

The heart of Dr. Hauschka: our herb garden.

We harvest as many of the plants that we use in our skin care products as possible from our own herb garden. This is located directly behind the oldest building at our manufacturing facility in Eckwälden, Germany at the foot of the Swabian Jura mountains. Our work here adheres to many different rhythms, creates a closed natural ecosystem, and leaves room for wilderness. It is a real oasis. Come and pay us a visit! We offer regular guided tours of our herb garden.
