weather in newport, rhode island

Mark Twain once famously said, “If you don't like the weather in New England now, just wait a few minutes.”

It’s a familiar sentiment shared among many New Englanders. Even just here in the Ocean State, the weather can be surprisingly varied. While the capital city might be roasting in the summer heat, the coastal temps may be cool and inviting.

On average, early June to mid/late September the average daily high temperature reaches above 70°F, peaking in mid-July. September through the end of October often brings a desirable blend of unseasonably warm, dry weather in the daytime and cooler temperatures after sunset.

From December through mid-March, the average daily high temperature hovers below 44°F and Newport receives about 22 inches of snowfall annually. March and November typically see the most precipitation, but on the whole, our area receives 45 inches of rainfall annually.
