UPDATED:

A Denver family was displaced Monday afternoon after a garage fire sparked in the Elyria-Swansea neighborhood, sending a plume of smoke that was visible across the area.

Fire crews first received a call about the fire near Vine Street and East 47th Avenue just before 3 p.m. Monday, Denver Fire Department spokesperson J.D. Chism said.

The fire started in a detached garage and impacted four structures total, according to fire officials. The family’s home has smoke damage and the utilities were turned off because of the fire, making it temporarily uninhabitable, Chism said.

No injuries were reported, and one firefighter was treated for heat-related symptoms, according to the department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
