Let there be art.

Breckenridge Brewery on Wednesday announced the launch party and unveiled the pint glass artwork for its 2019 Denver Pop Culture Con beer “Bocks Machina,” a play on the adventure group Vox Machina from the web series “Critical Role.” The entire cast of the series is scheduled to appear at the convention.

The launch party will take place at 7 p.m. May 25 at Monkey Barrel. The first 200 people to arrive at the event will receive a pint glass. There also will be a cosplay contest in which winners will receive tickets to the Pop Culture Con. Admission is free.

Local artist Nick Hughes created the glass design, which features a clawed hand gripping a 20-sided die.

The 2019 beer is a maibock recipe for which Breckenridge won a bronze medal at the Great American Beer Fest. It’s a style described by the brewery as “a malty, relatively strong German lager. Pale malts produce a bright color and notes of honey with toasted grain.”

The beer will be on tap at Monkey Barrel through the Pop Culture Con. There will be more venues that will serve the beer leading up to the event. Those will be announced at a later date.

Previous beer names include “The Fantastic Pour” (2012), “The Caped Brewsader” (2013), “Brews Wayne” (2014), “Hulk’s Mash” (2015), “Snape-ricot” (2016), “I am Brewt” (2017) and “Razznarok” (2018).

The Denver Pop Culture Con takes place May 31-June 2 at the Colorado Convention Center.
